FAQs

What is NEMT?

NEMT stands for Non-Emergency Medical Transportation. While emergency transportation caters to individuals with urgent and sometimes life-threatening needs, NEMT services focus on those who may be handicapped or disabled in some fashion without the need for urgent care. NEMT services are generally rare. RG3 Transportation strives to deliver quality care for all its clients, as our team continues to work in providing reliable and impactful service to our local community.

What is the difference between livery/taxi and ambulette/wheelchair transportation?

Livery, or taxi, transportation refers to any mode of transportation, typically car, minivan, or SUV, that does not require special accommodation to enter or exit the vehicle. Ambulette, or wheelchair, transportation refers to a vehicle that consists of a wheelchair ramp or lift. Those with wheelchairs, electric mobility scooters, or any physical condition that hinders their ability to easily enter or exit a vehicle should consider ambulette/wheelchair transportation.

What areas do you service?

Currently, RG3 Transportation services anywhere within Monroe, Livingston, Wayne, Ontario, Genesee, and Orleans counties.

What if I need transportation right away?

When booking a ride, you will be able to see all of our open time slots. As long as a slot is open, we can fit you in. Keep in mind that for a same-day booking, you must book at least 2 hours in advance. But please remember, if this is a medical emergency, call 911 to request emergency transportation services.

Will my health insurance provider pay for my transportation?

You may be able to have your ride covered by insurance depending on the rules of your health insurance provider. For those with Medicaid, do NOT book on our site; Medicaid requires you go through the MAS website to manage NEMT services. For those with other health insurance providers are strongly advised to call and confirm that NEMT services are covered prior to booking a ride with us.

Why did my reservation get rejected?

If your reservation was rejected, that is because you indicated in your reservation that you plan to pay with Medicaid. Due to Medicaid policy, we cannot accept reservations directly through our site. You must go to the MAS website to request NEMT services.

I would like a round trip ride, but I’d like to be dropped off at a different location than my pickup location. What should I do?

A round trip ride is assumed to be that the drop-off location is the same as the pickup location. If the drop off location is different, it is suggested you purchase two one-way rides.

Can I book a ride on behalf of someone else?

Absolutely! Just be sure to enter the name and the pick up address of the person for whom you’re booking the ride.

Will you wait for me while I’m at my appointment?

Yes, of course! We understand it can feel uncertain when your ride isn’t there waiting for you. We got you covered. If you would like for your driver to wait for you, be sure to mark ‘Yes’ in the form when booking for whether you’d like your driver to wait. This is at an additional cost.

Can I bring my child or grandchild with me?

Of course you can! Just keep in mind that they may NOT sit on your lap. To ensure safety for all passengers children, regardless of age, count as an additional passenger and they must have their own seat and seat belt.
